Al Quran Juz 28 – A Simple and Easy Explanation
Juz 28 of the Holy Quran begins from Surah Al-Mujadila (verse 1) and includes:
- Surah Al-Hashr
- Surah Al-Mumtahanah
- Surah As-Saff
- Surah Al-Jumu’ah
- Surah Al-Munafiqun
- Surah At-Taghabun
- Ends at Surah At-Talaq (verse 12)
This Juz focuses on faith, manners, Muslim unity, and the rewards of the Hereafter. It also teaches us how to deal with hypocrites and enemies of Islam, and how to live a life of obedience, patience, and justice.
Key Themes in Juz 28
1. Surah Al-Mujadila (Verses 1–22)
This Surah starts with a woman who complained to the Prophet ﷺ about unfair treatment. Allah heard her words, showing that He listens to every voice, even whispered prayers.
Key Lessons:
- Allah hears everything — even secret talks.
- Don’t whisper to exclude others or create division.
- True believers never befriend the enemies of Allah.
“Indeed, Allah is All-Hearing, All-Seeing.” (58:1)
2. Surah Al-Hashr (Verses 1–24)
This Surah is also known as “The Gathering”, referring to the expulsion of a Jewish tribe from Madinah due to betrayal.
Key Teachings:
- Everything in the universe praises Allah.
- Describes the fate of hypocrites and their allies.
- Teaches how spoils of war (fay’) should be distributed fairly.
- Ends with Allah’s Beautiful Names (Asma’ul Husna).
“He is Allah — there is no deity except Him. The Knower of the unseen and the seen.” (59:22)
3. Surah Al-Mumtahanah (Verses 1–13)
Teaches Muslims how to deal with non-Muslims, especially in times of conflict.
Key Points:
- Do not make secret alliances with enemies of Islam.
- Be just and kind to non-hostile non-Muslims.
- True believers follow Prophet Ibrahim’s example of sincerity and loyalty to Allah.
“Allah does not forbid you from being just and kind to those who did not fight you.” (60:8)
4. Surah As-Saff (Verses 1–14)
This Surah calls Muslims to act upon what they say and to stand united like a solid wall in the cause of Allah.
Key Messages:
- Don’t say what you don’t do — be sincere.
- Allah loves those who fight in His path as a united group.
- Mentions Prophet Isa (A.S.) giving good news of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
“Indeed, Allah loves those who fight in His cause in a row as though they are a solid structure.” (61:4)
5. Surah Al-Jumu’ah (Verses 1–11)
This Surah highlights the importance of Friday (Jumu’ah) Prayer.
Key Lessons:
- Leave trade when the call to prayer is made.
- After prayer, go back to work — but always remember Allah.
- The Quran was sent as a guide and purification.
“O you who believe! When the call is made for the Friday prayer, hasten to the remembrance of Allah.” (62:9)
6. Surah Al-Munafiqun (Verses 1–11)
Talks about hypocrites — those who pretend to believe but work against Islam.

- Hypocrites try to deceive, but Allah knows the truth.
- Their actions are empty and harmful to the Muslim community.
- Love for wealth and children should not make you forget Allah.
“Let not your wealth and your children distract you from the remembrance of Allah.” (63:9)
7. Surah At-Taghabun (Verses 1–18)
“Taghabun” means mutual loss and gain, referring to the Day of Judgment when all deeds will be revealed.
Key Teachings:
- Everything happens by Allah’s will.
- If you forgive, give, and do good — it is best for you.
- Prepare for the Hereafter with patience and faith.
“Whoever believes in Allah — He will guide his heart.” (64:11)
8. Surah At-Talaq (Verses 1–12)
Also called “The Surah of Divorce”, it gives clear guidance on family matters.
Key Messages:
- Follow proper steps when giving divorce.
- Respect waiting periods (`iddah) and provide support to women.
- Allah will make a way out for those who fear Him.
“Whoever fears Allah — He will make for him a way out.” (65:2)
